Jeanie Anderson called the meeting to order at 11:35 AM, followed by the flag salute. Everyone sang America the Beautiful led by the Frasiers. There were 36 members present.

April 2019 general luncheon minutes were reviewed and approved as written.
Jeanie Anderson recognized some members who we haven’t seen for a while. Linda Averill, WSSRA State President, was introduced. Ron and Donna Frasier were acknowledged.
Presentation of Recognition: Gerri Jarvis was recognized for turning 90 years old. She received a certificate that made her a WSSRA lifetime member with all her dues eliminated. Congratulations Gerri! She agreed to help plan next year’s programs.
Health: Fran Person mentioned that Frank Irwin, in The Murder of JoAnn Dewey in Vancouver, Washington (True Crime) by Pat Jollota’s, is Mary Ann Sawyer’s father. She reminded us to stay hydrated and take deep breaths often. Korri Nelson will discuss the fitness factors that can help your fall risk and help create a fall prevention personal plan. The seminar is at Prestige Senior Living, 11700 NE Angelo Drive, Wednesday May 29 from 1PM to 1:45 PM. Telephone number for reservations is 360-254-4666.
Friendship: Jane Madden sent a get well card to Joy Gault.

Special Presentation: Jeannie Anderson awarded Margaret Snitzler with a
striking rose in a glass flower aquarium. She was recognized for her hard work in producing our new directory. Thanks Margaret!
Margaret Snitzler told members that she has an extra page available to be included in the Directory. Jeanie Anderson mentioned that the Directory will be given to new members during next year’s Retirement Seminar.
Memorial: Jane Madden read “To laugh much, to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children, to leave the world a better place: To know even one life breathed easier because of you have lived….This is to have succeeded.” Today we honored these members: Myrna Pearson, Dollie Beers, Mae Ellen Moore, Janie Say, Karen Scheels, Zoe Carlisle, Robert Warren, Jack Beauchamp, Timothy Haney, Elizabeth Kight, Gloria Morrow, Ann Oertli, Lucille Carter, Bobby Lassley, Dorothy New. As the names were read, a rose was presented and a chime sounded. “A life well lived leaves a beautiful bouquet of memories and a legacy for the future.”
Program: Donna Frasier, accompanied on the keyboard, with Ron singing about “heroes” in the classroom. He mentioned that sometimes he put in his own words to make the song more relevant. Ron sang Gonna Build a Mountain, My Task, When the Saints Go Marching In. For the past five years, they have performed as “Team Rondo,” doing musical shows throughout Clark County and Longview.
Gift of Appreciation: Jeanie Anderson honored Sherry Booth for putting together two baskets for the WSSRA Annual Convention. She was presented with “a basket of her own.” Thanks Sherry!
Contest: Jeanie Anderson challenged groups to come up with songs that have a color in their title. Everyone enjoyed this exercise and were surprised at the number of songs that were revealed.
Songs: Somewhere Over the Rainbow and Let There Be Peace on Earth were led be the Frasiers.
Officer Installation: Linda Averill, WSSRA State President, installed next year’s officers. They are as follows: Jeanie Anderson, President, Wanita Filbin, Vice-President, Marty Erickson, Treasurer and Mina Milligan, Secretary.
Door prizes handed out.
Jane Madden handed out presents and led Happy Birthday to those born in May.
Jeanie Anderson remined members to leave a donation. This money goes towards the Culinary students going out to a fancy restaurant at the end of their term.
